A dangerous mission, even for the Cyprus From Air team, but with the help of Harris Nicolas, the Forestry Officer, they penetrated into a complex of 400-meter-long and 80-meter-long sandy beaches in the Larnaca province to record the cave fauna living there.
The team photographed and recorded the different species of bats, collecting data and information for a more extensive study.
It was a venture that has many dangers and traps if you are not an expert and equipped appropriately. The many years of abandonment make these spaces inhospitable to man and one wrong move or estimation can cause a collapse with immediate risk of entrapment. Entry requires necessary equipment, training and very good cooperation and communication between the members of a mission, so we should never enter such areas as if they were safe.
