An impressive opening ceremony marked the beginning of “Carbo One Cup Tennis Europe Junior under 12”, at Aphrodite Hills Resort on Sunday 13th of May 2018.
Many distinguished guests honoured the ceremony with their presence. This major athletic event is taking place in Cyprus with the participation of athletes from 24 countries.
The International tournament is held under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs Andri Anastasiades, who kindly attended the ceremony and addressed the event.
The Chief Executive Officer of Aphrodite Hills Resort, Mr. George Misirlis, welcomed all young athletes while emphasizing the importance of such major athletic events being organized on our island and pointing out that Cyprus is the ideal Mediterranean sports destination. Amongst others, Minister of Education and Culture Mr Kostas Champiaouris as well as the Mayor of Limassol Mr Nicos Nicolaides, have also addressed the tournament.
This European Tournament is currently being held at the professional tennis courts of Aphrodite Hills Resort, powered by Carbo One Ltd, one of the largest coal trading companies in the world, which supports and promotes junior sports activities.
During the spectacular opening ceremony of the tournament, Carbo One Ltd also provided support to the Independent Social Support Body, a charity organisation that helps Cyprus students who face financial difficulties to continue their studies.
Mrs. Katerina Christou, member of the Board of Carbo One Ltd, addressed the event and donated a cheque of €20,000 (twenty thousand euros) to the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus and the ISSB President, Mrs Andri Anastasiades for the continuation of this important charity mission.
“Carbo One Cup Tennis Europe U12” finals will take place on Saturday the 19th of May 2018.
The event is open to the public.
