The Cypriot sailor, Pavlos Kontidis ranks second worldwide after the completion of the World Cup in Santander, where he finished in seventh place.
The Cypriot champion is in second place with 931 points and it is is the first time Kontidis is so close to the top of the world ranking. The only one in front of Kondidi in the world ranking is German Phillip Bohl with 947 points, while Lorenzo Brando Ciasarini from Great Britain with third place is 922 points.
The Olympic champion showed with his performance in the last few races that he is in very good shape and with a little luck things can get even better for the athlete. After completing the World Cup in Santander, Pavlos Kontidis rests and in a short while he will begin his preparation for the next races in the season.
This is a huge achievement for him as an individual but also for Cypriot sport in general, according to a statement issued by the Cyprus Sailing Federation.
