The photographer of “Phileleftheros”, Stefanos Kouratzis, was awarded the third prize of the International Photography Competition “Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3)” 2017, in the “Portraiture / Wedding” category entitled “A time for love”. He was awarded for his photograph series from the first LBGT cohabitation agreement in Cyprus, held in February 2016.
In the same competition, the results of which were announced this Monday, Stefanos Kouratzis also won six more famous titles in the categories of Fine Art/Abstract, Advertising/Architecture and Press/General News.
The Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3) is one of the world’s leading photography competitions, and the jury consists of world-renowned professionals, in all aspects of the art of photography. Hundreds of photographers take part in the competition every year, and this year there have been participations from 85 countries. Stephanos Kouratzis tried to approach with great sensitivity and discretion, that he has been working on his project for some time, in an effort to promote the efforts of the LGBT community to secure their rights.
Stefanos Kouratzis was born in Athens in 1975 and in the last few years he has been working for the “Phileleftheros” group. He has also been working with the European University of Cyprus simultaneously. He has been living and working in Cyprus since 2001, and in that time he has collaborated with multiple international media and News Agencies. He also traveled and recorded events and stories in various countries like Cuba, Lebanon, Palestine and Iran. For his work he has received international awards and distinctions from organizations such as IPA, PX3, Fujifilm EuroPress Awards etc. His photos are in books and private collections, while one can visit his website, where it can be seen how his work balances between the coverage of daily events and the small details that usually escape our attention.
