Demetrios Mina, a photographer from Larnaca, Cyprus who only shoots film, since digital for him, does not fulfil his soul’s needs.
We followed Demetri around in one of his recent landscape photography “excursions” at the outskirts of Larnaca where he shared with us his ideas, beliefs and feelings.
He started photography 14 years ago. He photographed concerts all over Europe and various riots and conflicts for news agencies. Then he got into street photography and street portraits.
He’s into film so much because that’s how he learned to photograph. He isn’t planning on switching to digital any time soon. He loves the whole procedure and the knowledge you ought to posses in order to shoot and develop film, unlike digital which is so “convenient” as he stated.
Since day one, he wanted to try “Large Format Photography” and once he did, the only camera in his photography bag since then is his “Large Format Camera”.
Demetrios develops, scans and prints his own photographs in his darkroom. It’s a procedure he loves since he gets to see his photographs come to life.
